Pilgrimage of Mercy at Sacred Heart Church
“May pilgrimage be an impetus to conversion; by crossing the threshold of the Holy Door, we will find the strength to embrace God’s mercy and dedicate ourselves to being merciful with others as the Father has been with us.”
Pope Francis, The Face of Mercy n 14.
The Holy Door at Sacred Heart Church represents the door to God’s mercy and ‘great pardon.’ Special graces can be received by those who pass through the Door of Mercy with the appropriate interior disposition and fulfil the required conditions; celebrate the sacrament of Penance, receive Holy Eucharist, make a profession of faith (Creed) and pray for the intentions of the Pope (Our Father, Hail Mary).
To assist and accompany the prayer of pilgrims and those who pass through the Holy Door a Pilgrimage of Mercy has been created - a journey along the Way of Mercy for rest, reflection and prayer.
Click here to download a pamphlet for the Way of Mercy. Alternatively printed copies of the pamphlet can be found at the Holy Door and in the brochure racks of all parish churches.
“The practice of pilgrimage has a special place in the Holy Year because it represents the journey each of us makes in this life.” Pope Francis, MV 14.
